Set in a humid southern Chinese town in the year 2015, shortly after China ended its One-Child Policy, this is a coming-of-age story centered on a 17-year-old girl facing the pressures of university entrance exams just as her mother unexpectedly becomes pregnant.
Told from the perspective of the daughter ten years later in 2025, the film reflects on memory, fear, and the quiet transformation of family. Trapped between duty, shame, and fear of being replaced, the girl struggles—but also gradually grows.
